so i have a 94 2wd pickup.. i put the lce turbo kit, with their fuel system, and it blew my old motor. so i went ahead and ordered a doa short block... EVERYTHING forged. we out that in, and it blew the head... so i went ahead and ordered a race head from DOA... we put it in earlier today, and it makes a very very loud clicking noise.. sounds like a diesel.. WE checked the timing assembly, everything is fine. we checked the valves, they are fine, we checked the pistons to see if the valves had made contact, they were fine as well.. we checked the cam, it looks perfect.. rocker arms were looked at and are perfect as well.. so i have no idea.. its a very very loud clicking.. i wont drive it like that... anybody have advice???

check the valve cover for clearance issues? (tightened the cover too much) mines sounds like that too, but then again so does everyone elses, search for timing and a guy has a youtube vid of his 22re idleing and it clicks pretty loud, see if thats what it sounds like and if it is its the valve lashing....i think their suppose to be set at .008 intake and .012 exhaust when hot......dont hold me to it but im sure some 1 els will chime in, its also in the FSM

oh yeah you might wanna check with DOA on the valve lashing just to be safe

yea i understand that they are going to be a little loud... but when i say loud, i cringe when i give it gas.. like its bad.. like a loud diesel.. i dont understand why its doing it.. its a brand new race head.. maybe its just gunna be super loud??? i just dont think it would be this loud..

hermm....well im actually in the same boat, just got the truck with a rebuilt motor and RV cam and its pretty loud but every1 told me what i just told you, lol maybe try n take a vid of it so we can hear and poss diagnose, and i wanna see it sounds like a bad ass motor

i actually had that same idea of doing a video... the motor wont be put back together until monday.. but thats the first thing im going to do... i will do a video, and let people listen so i have more ideas.. yea the motor looks pretty sick.... ill post pix soon..
