Head gasket or not?
Hi I recently bought a 93 automatic sr5 222k miles 4runner with a blown headgasket (well thats the idea).
I did a COLD compression check today and on the and the results were
Drivers side
#2 150
#4 140
#6 140
Passenger side
#1 150
#3 160
#5 150
Is it normal to have a blown headgasket and have this consistent of compression?
The radiator appears to have black chunks in it but I have not drained it yet so I'm not 100% sure. Also the exhaust is blowing white smoke, but the oil doesn't have any coolant in it.
What would you guys say it is? Headgasket or something else? What else should I check?
Also it did overheat once with the previous owner and hasn't been driven since.

honestly i know nothing about the compression stuff but, white smoke is an indicator sometimes, and usually depending on how bad the gasket failed there will be oil and coolant on the ground below the motor.. at least thats what happened on my 22re im guessing you have a 3vze, it should still be about the same though.. when i pulled my dipstick when it happened the oil looked normal just like yours does.. so i would reccomend calling a shop or take it in.

A headgasket can be blown without seeing coolant in the oil. I would take it to a shop, and they normall have a tester that they can take some coolant and put it in the tester and determine whether or not the head gasket is blown.. They shouldn't charge much at all for them to do that.. or even drain some coolant and bring it to them if you don't wanna drive it.. white smoke is normally a good indicator tho..

As far as I know, "White" smoke means you're leaking water (coolant) into the exhaust stream. You could have a crack in the head (less likely), but most likely you're leaking it through the head gasket.
And you're probably not leaking anything directly from the cylinder (yet), and not leaking coolant into the oil passages, and probably not leaking anything to the outside of the motor. But if it's leaking in one place, you are definitely on borrowed time.
Testing the coolant chemically (I think you're looking for some combustion products in the coolant) might help, on the assumption that you're not always leaking coolant INTO the exhaust, but occasionally leak it back into the coolant. And what are you going to do if that turns up negative?

If you can manage to have a leakdown test run, that would tell you. It takes a special two-gauge instrument and compressed air:
