Head Gasket

Hey i was wondering if anyone has ever used or know if any of that gasket maker or something similar would work for a head gasket. It isnt my DD so i dont really care too much about it. And also my fuel pump wasnt working, so i took a switch and ran it from the fue pump to the switch to the battery, when i flip the switch i can barely hear the fuel pump with the seat up and everything. Is this normal? or is it getting worn out? By the way it is an 89 4runner with a 3L

If I was going to spend hundreds of dollars on a part for a motor than I might as well look for another used motor or donor vehicle that somebody doesnt want anymore but still runs...but thanks for the reply

sounds to me your fuel pump relay may have gone bad.. would be a good idea to fix that and not run just off a switch.

When i got the 4runner, the whole pasenger side dash, glove box and computer were all just lying on the floor. The body is shot, and i priced a head gasket for it and I was told it was 600 bucks not under my uncles name. Because he deals with them it was about 400 for him i think. Im just wondering, is there a specific reason that i shouldnt use the gasket maker?

Are you mixing up a cyl head, with a head gasket, a dang gasket kit (prob all the engines gaskets) cost way les than 300 bucks from LCE.

At $600 the gasket better be made of gold. Actually come to think of it...a gold head gasket might actually be a good metal to make a headgasket out of. It could handle the heat up to around 600 degrees and it forms well to other metals...But yea that is a pipe dream because with the amount of gold needed and the current prices, we are easily looking at 2-3 grand +

Dont use felpro, use OEM or that ROCK brand Ted sells at engnbldr.

the 3L has two HG's btw... two heads...

shouldnt cost more than 60 bucks. .. and gasket maker? .. just won't work.

probably should also mention, you dont use anything (rtv etc) on the HeadGasket when you install it. It goes on by itself. But if you didnt know that then you probably shouldnt be replacing a HG
