harmonic balancer sleeve does it work?
ok so I just bought an 86 4runner that I knew had an oil leak. It was leaking from the oil pump so I replaced the seal and the o ring. when i took it apart I found the pulley had a groove worn in it I put it back together with the new seal and kept my fingers crossed. Well it still leaks drove it 40 miles and it leaked almost a quart so my question is does the felpro repair sleeve work and how much of a bioch is it to install or should I just throw down the coin and get a new pulley? money is an object but a quart a day of oil can get expensive too.

Im sure the sleeve would fix it, but the correct way to fix it is to order a new balancer, I just had to order a new balancer for my 86 4Runner because it was tore up, and it destroyed my oil pump and drive gear. A new balancer is about 80.00 from Rock Auto.

If it's leaking almost a quart of oil in 40 miles I'd say drop a little money and get the new balancer.
edit: I had an 86 that leaked so bad it killed two alternators in a month. I used the sleave and the new seal and the oil leak stopped. Keep in mind that I wasn't slinging a quart every 40 miles though.
