Got 94 V6 3.0L Valve cover gasket change writeup?
I have a 94 4X4 V6 3.0L with 118K miles. There is an oil leak, as such, I thought to change the valve cover gasket since it has never been done. I am the first owner.
From this site I learned and changed my timing chain. Now, I am learning how to change the valve cover gasket but cant seem to find a write up.
Anyone have a write up on a valve cover gasket change? This seems pretty complicated since the air intake chamber sits on top.
How many gaskets are there? I have one gaskets for each valve cover. Do I change out the intake gaskets while Im in there? Anything else I should change while Im in there?
Many thanks guys..

Elaborate, are you wanting a picture book or just links?
Searching I found:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/v...acement-52695/
*Has a post w/ some similar tips I give below..
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...e-ment-135363/
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ket-job-90201/
and there's always: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...5/contents.htm
with the cylinder head the link for the tech, just follow the first two pages, EG2-50 and EG2-51 to remove the intake to get to the valve covers: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...e/cylinder.pdf
**Warm the engine up first b/c as long as you are going in there it doesn't hurt to adjust the valves at the same time or inspect things to make sure your valve shims are still doing their job and aren't about to eject b/c of too much free-play.
**Biggest hint I will give is use some extra FIPG where the gaskets make a sharp corner around the cam seal system, as this is where it always leaks if not done well. Place the extra added on bead more to the outer rear so it'll flow out and over the seal. Then once a single cover is tight go back and carefully smooth-out/smear the FIPG so it'll seal well. Do not wait until both gaskets are tightened as by then the FIPG will have been setting up on the first one.

No big deal, you're welcome, we were all there once. I'm lucky to have knowledge, experience and access to the stuff. (Former ToyotaTech/Family in Automotives and Racing) I'm in the S.F. Bay Area, you're welcome to buy us dinner if/when you're ever in town. just shoot me a pm to let us know. Realize it'll be more of a breakfast for me, as I work graveyard, and it's now 3am (lunch's now) .
FWIW the tech pages for the FSM part of the valve covers are in the Engine Mechanical part, pg EG-80, you'll have to scroll down.. http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...e/cylinder.pdf

First of all, the 3.0 does NOT have a "timing chain"...

Did you have a 22re in the past?
Make sure you oil the rubber gaskets lightly, then put some FIPG where the FSM says to. Then make 10000000% sure you torque to spec, these bolts only require a few ft-lbs, lots of guys break them.
I did it by the book, no leaks at all
Make sure you have a new upper intake manifold gasket and a new PCV valve and gasket. Those are nearly impossible to change without lifting the intake off.
Make sure you mark all the hoses and vacuum lines, and watch out for the brittle Tvv valve under the intake. Can't remember exactly where it is, but be carefull, they are known to snap.
