Goodyear Duratracs on!

LT 235-85-R16, load range E, 3 ply sidewalls.

I took off my fiberglass shell & took out my recovery gear & toolbox, so the power trade-offs of dropping about 400 pounds of weight vs going to a taller tire are not noticeable around town, but on the highway I am staying in 4th longer. 4.88's will definitely be a little on the short side of gearing if I didn't have the extra weight.

I'll probably have to drive to phoenix to get a rear axle housing, none of the yards around here have one.

These tires ride stiffer, bumps in the road are much more noticeable, but they are relatively quiet & very smooth on the highway. We'll see how they are offroad this evening!

That is sexy!! I was waiting to see them on and it was well worth the wait. I even did some looking around here to see if I can afford a set of 33's and I found them for 163$ a tire, a little over twice what I paid for the TreadWrights that I'm running so I may have to wait a little while. That and I can't find them in a 10.50 so that means new wheels....... I alwas did like the black Uniques in steel.

Be sure and post pics and a review of how they do offroad as that will be a BIG factor for me.

Oh and what did they cost you?

LOOKS GOOD!!!!!!

Took a drive up to a local camping spot for an overnighter, the last 2.3 miles of the road is a rutted & rocky 2-track. The tires are aired at 40 psi, and still provided good traction on the few rocky shelfs that I drove up. The siping on the tire seems to really help them hookup on dusty rocks, and the tiny bit of mud I encountered cleaned out of the tread quickly. Higher speed (25-35) on graded roads the tires held well around corners and provided good braking. No cuts scratches or visible wear from the volcanic rocks around here, although the tires only have 70 miles on them. So far so good!

I can tell my gearing is off now, some hills I had to pull in 3rd, and offroad I was in low range almost the entire time. 4.88's will be nice!

I just put a set of 31 10.50 15 on the front of my 89 4runner, and I noticed the same things.. I've got them aired to 35, and they are stiff on road, but have great braking abilities, and quiet..

I bought them because they are "Winter Certified", so if Ontario decides to put in place a Mandatory Snow Tire law, I won't have to buy new tires (again)..

I need tires by fall and I'm flip flopping between these and another set of Nittos since the TGs have treated me quite well.
