Goldilocks and the 4 O-rings… a Carburetor?
I rebuilt my carburetor on my truck after work today; it’s a stock 86 22r with stock Aisan carb. I have been having idling problems and dieseling problems so I picked up a rebuild kit for the carb at Napa. When I was disassembling the idle cut off solenoid I noticed that the o-ring that was supposed to go on it was missing so I figured this must be the cause of my problems. I went to reassemble the solenoid with the new o-ring on, per the instructions, but every time I tried to push the solenoid back in, the o-ring would roll off its placement. The Napa kit came with 4 different o-rings and none fit right, one was too small, two of them were way too big and the fourth seemed like it would be just right, hence the Goldilocks, but it was too big still. I need to know what I am doing wrong since there was no o-ring that came off of it I have nothing to compare it to, so is it my technique, the o-rings or other. Please help me this is my daily driver and I need to get it running good for its 50 mile a day commute
Thanks for your time, Kelly
