going back to get my toyota soon

well im kinda excited, in a month and a half from now, im going to drive back to so cal where i grew up and pickup my 89 Toyota 2wd pickup that iv had stored the last 5-6 years. and bring it back to where i live now, Bismarck nd. i rebuilt the motor when i was 15 years old did a home made 4 inch body lift cranked the torsion bars and had add a leafs in the rear and a new cluch. my mom drove it for probably 3 years after i left and now apeartly the transmision is on its way out (5speed) and the head gasket is blown. head gaskets are pretty easy on these trucks (22re) so that doesn't really bother me, and ill probably get a used transmission from a wrecking yard. my daily driver right now is an 96 ford f250 diesel so ill probably mainly use the Toyota as a commuter vehicle, i like the look of it lifted but i want to drop down from a 4 inch body lift to more like 2 inches then id like to get an additional 2 inches out of the front, remove the add a leaf in the rear and swap to an 4x4 rear axle with 4.10's, the stock rear axle is spring under axel. i want the truck to sit level with a spring over Axel in the rear. what are some ideas to get a little extra lift out of the front to make this posible

i looked the ball joint spacers up and it looks like they are only good for about 1.5 inches over stock, id kinda like to restore some of the down travel when doing this. someone can correct me if im wrong as i havent seen my truck in over a year and its been even longer sense iv touched it but im thinking the rear end swap will lift me 3-4 inches in the rear. i want to keep the truck level and keep the same ride hight while reducing body lift. i found these a little while ago doing web browser serches http://obsessedmotorsports.com/toyot...d_spindle.html
they look like they might be a bit better of an option although its a little more than i realy want to spend considering im probably already going to spend more than the truck is worth transporting it and making the nessisary repairs, but im doing it more for sentimental reasons than economic. plus its an clean 100% rust free california truck something you cant find in north Dakota for an 89 Toyota, i have also thought of posibly getting a used transmision from an 4x4 along with a transfer case and front solid axel from a 4x4 seems how it sounds like i have to replace the transmission anyway. but that could get expensive quick. i dont want to end up spending ungodly amounts on this truck.

do you think that i can get the truck to sit leval and ride good with the bg spacer and an 4x4 rear end.

Definitely get rid of the 4" body lift...that is crazy.

Total Chaos Fabrication might have some things you are looking for.

reading on other Forums you might find good info here: http://www.dezertrangers.com/

Switching out to a 4x4 rear end saves you the work of rewelding your spring mounts but than you are looking at new wheels (6 on 5.5). I think it would be cheaper to get new perches from someone

well swiching to the 4wd rear axel, is not only for the differnt spring perches but also for a bigger ring gear and taller gear ratio than the stock 2wd axel. the total chaos stuff is expensive, i could buy a doner 4x4 truck with everything id need for a 4x4 swap for the price of one of there kits.
