Generic Fuel sending unit

I am in the process of fixing up a 86 SR5 4x4 pickup and have a question about the fuel sending unit. I am replacing the tank, fuel pump and sending unit as they are beyond repair. I bought a Dorman sending unit and have it ready to install. However it only has a place for one wire and the original sending unit had three wire going to it. The three are yellow/red, yellow/blue, and white/black. From what I can tell the yellow/red is the wire that attaches to the sending unit. The yellow/blue is for the low level warning light. This would leave the white/black wire as the ground. These color codes are assumptions based on testing with an ohm meter as the old unit had come apart on top of the tank. Does anyone have any experience with this and can walk me through the proper way to wire this up.

The new sending unit doesn't have a low level feature but I think I can take the part off the old unit and attach it to the new one if it would work. I have not found a wiring diagram for the truck yet and any suggestions on that would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.
