Gearing opinions / tire size opinions.

Okay first off let me preface by saying I am currently rebuilding a 1uzfe for my 4Runner and will be using an auto trans from the Lexus LS400 with an inchworm adapter. I currently have 4.88 gears with 36x15.50 tires and the A340H, I have to run the trans in tow mode and turn off OD just to drive period. I know this is probably due to my tires being way to large for my gearing and that I should go to 5.29's. Here is my dilemma.

I don't plan on ever having anything larger than 35's on this truck ever again (unless it becomes a dedicated off road rig which is doubtful) and I have a set of 33's I can run for quite a while though I feel they will look very small for the amount of lift I have. Im not sure if I should run the 5.29's with 35's (in the future) or keep my 4.88's with the 35's and allow the 1uzfe to do it's job and push the tires.

This truck will be used to make a 2 hour trip quite a few times each summer (I don't drive it all during the winter unless it snows.) to our lake house, so fuel mileage is a concern (not huge but I'd like to get the best I can for the size of the tires).

Any opinions?

Thanks in advance.
