Gasket Maker on Valve Cover?

Hey guys, I am replacing the valve cover gasket (The two semi circle pieces where leaking bad) and I am wondering if I should but some gasket maker to help seal a little better.
The stuff I have is Permatex silver high temp maker.

The top two recommended sealants on the 1/2 moons are Toyota FIPG and Permatex Ultra GREY.

I usually put a bit of permatex on the circular section of the moon washer and at the corners. I think the FSM only says to put it on the corners though.

Actually you're doing it by the book. The FSM does indeed say to put sealant on the round portion of the end gasket (1/2 moon) and to the top corners of both gaskets where the valve cover makes contact.

Look at this link http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../7cylinder.pdf

Scroll down to page EG1–35 and have a look at Fig 7. and also Fig 8. on page EG1–36.
Right under that is the torque specifications for the valve cover.

Time will tell if it's ok or not.

I don't know what was in mine when I changed them but the installer did not use any sealant and they were leaking. I can tell you that the plugs I took out were smaller than the FelPro's I installed.

From what another member said the FelPro 1/2 moon plugs are thicker than the OEM plugs.
Based on that I would guess if you do not use sealant the FelPro's stand a better chance of not leaking Vs. the OEM plugs without sealant.
