Gasket Maker on Valve Cover?
Hey guys, I am replacing the valve cover gasket (The two semi circle pieces where leaking bad) and I am wondering if I should but some gasket maker to help seal a little better.
The stuff I have is Permatex silver high temp maker.

Look at this link http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../7cylinder.pdf
Scroll down to page EG1–35 and have a look at Fig 7. and also Fig 8. on page EG1–36.
Right under that is the torque specifications for the valve cover.

Time will tell if it's ok or not.
I don't know what was in mine when I changed them but the installer did not use any sealant and they were leaking. I can tell you that the plugs I took out were smaller than the FelPro's I installed.
From what another member said the FelPro 1/2 moon plugs are thicker than the OEM plugs.
Based on that I would guess if you do not use sealant the FelPro's stand a better chance of not leaking Vs. the OEM plugs without sealant.
