Funky Idle

Funky Idle
Hello,
I just finished replacing my valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and PCV valve. I FINALLY got it all back together. It fired right up and runs like a champ. Before this tune up, once warmed up it would idle down to about 700 rpm. Now, once it's warm, it will only idle down to about 1000 rpm. Then, periodically, the rpms will dip for a second (to about 700), and then go back to 1000 rpm. It does this periodically, maybe every 15 to 45 seconds. I've checked the vacuum hoses, and I don't think I've missed any or mixed any up. Any ideas? I have none.
Thanks!

If your idle is set too high and the engine thinks it should be idling, it will cut fuel until it gets down to what it deems an acceptable RPM. Adjust your idle screw.

It seems weird that this would start immediately after putting the engine back together. Is there any chance that the need to adjust the idle would be at all related to the tune up that i just completed?

From reading many similar threads, seems this is a common problem for the 3VZE. My truck has the same problem after injector replacement. I'm going to re-inspect the TPS (many threads here on how to do that)…thoroughly clean the throttle body and replace the "shot" dashpot. Coolant needs replacing so I'm going to do that as well, ensuring I "burp" the system, removing any/all air (I hear that can cause idle issues as well).
This is a tricky problem so good luck! And please let us know how it works out. Way too many threads here that end with no solution and keep us in the dark.
