sup everybody,
im swaping in a 1987 22RE into a 1990 4runner and its almost done but im not getting fuel, the motor runs we shoved a rag soaked in gas in the TB and cranked it and it started and ran. problem is without the gas rag it wont start, you can hear the pump click, and you can smell the gas. im thinking the fuel lines are on backwards(return is feed, feed is return) but im not sure im gonna check tomorrow if anyone has any ideas that would be great. it isnt frozen i put 2 thingys of gas line antifreeze and a big thing of methal hydrate to remove any water in the tank.

Is the fuel injector ground attached?
Intake manifold - upper plenum - attached to the #3 runner on the #2 side, if that makes sense.

oki checked and the fuel filter was reversed so i fixed that but its not injecting, the plugsare still dry after i crank the motor. im really confused here it might be the ground, im gonna get my dad to look at it he is a Marine Diesel Mechanic, so he might be able to help.

This one - looking from the pass side where the upper and lower intake plenum meet.

im gonna pull th wires off the injectors and put a test light to them and see if they are getting power and im gonna pull off the entire intake assy and clean it it has over 300000 KMS on it so its bound to be dirty

weak fuel pump mine done the same thing enuff pressure to run not enuff to start

nope fuel pump is fine, its something with the injectors something was changed between 87 and 90 so my ECU will not work with 87 injectors i need a 90 intake plenum.

so you put the whole 87 in, injectors and all?
surprised the 87 injectors plugged into the 90 injector harness' plugs- they shouldn't have.
hopefully you didn't damage the ECU too.

yeah thats what im thinking it was weird it required alot of pushing so i might have fubared some stuff i really hope i didnt though.
