I bought a 1990 4runner with the 3.0 and just replace the fuel pump assembly about 200 miles ago. Now there is gas dripping out of the FRAME on the passengers side right behind the front wheel well. It does not start dripping right away but after its been run for about 10 minutes. So when I stop driving I let the pressure out of the tank by removing the gas cap and this seems to slow down the leaking and then it will slowly stop. I followed the lines comming from the tank and nothing appears to be leaking or even "wet" with gas. I popped the hood to look around the fuel injectors and around and did not see anything "wet" there eaither. I can't find a way to see into the frame to see where its comming from.
If ANYONE has ANY ideas PLEASE let me know!!!

i think it has somthing to do with the fuel return line look on the passenger side wheel well you should see a hose going into the frame its coming out of there!

I just went out and looked and I didn't see any hoses going into the frame!?? Someone else told me that there are no lines in the frame, not sure if this is correct or not? anyone?

Check the flexible rubber feedline that goes between the end of the hard line and the entrance of the fuel rail. It may have a small hole and may be shooting on to something else making it drip out of the frame rail. I don't believe they have any lines running through the framrail but I could be wrong. now if you had a t100 I'd be certain.

youll have to leave it 'pressurized' to make the leak more noticable. good luck and keep us posted.

My gas line just started to leak right around that area. There is a plastic clamp that holds the gas line to the frame. Mine rusted at the clamp, and now only leaks for a little after the engine has been run. I slowed mine down for now the wrong way, using gas tank sealer on the gas line. I dont recomend this, it doesnt work that well. I just havent had a chance to replace the whole line, and am not looking foward to it. Check there? Hope this helps. Good luck.

If it really is coming from inside the frame, there IS one line that goes into the frame. The dump hose from the evap canister goes into the frame in that same area. If for some reason your evap can is filling up with fuel it would drain out into the frame.

i dont think there is any lines running threw the frame rail, i think there is a rubber line that is just shoved in a hole in the frame and ends a few inches in there. its the "overflow line" i think. im not shure but i remember someone having a similar problem and it was leaking out of that hose. i dont realy remember, good luck!

It is comming out of the frame for sure and thats the only place that is "wet" I'll have to check that out...is this picture from a 4runner? THANKS!!

This happened to us. We accidently switched the fuel vent and fuel return line. It filled the vapor canister with liquid fuel, and it ran out the drain tube into the frame.

I'm assuming that the two hoses mentioned above got switched, I bought this truck as a project and the tank was allready off...
