Failing Fuel damper = super noisy injectors?

Aloha YotaTech...
Ive searched around a bunch and havent found much on the 3vze fuel damper besides leaking failure..
Mine does not leak, however I suspect it has failed in that it is not suppressing the pulsations from the injectors. I had the original ones in there that I should have changed when i did the heads, but ran out of money...that was 30k ago..
Stopped driving the truck regular about 2yrs ago as I work overseas and use it like every six months now for a few months or weeks...
Recently Haven noticed the injectors/fuel rails/damper especially very noisy ticking...
Put new flamethrowers in as part of a big tune up move and same tick but louder (more fuel and beefier injector, makes sense)

Im familiar with the toyota injector tick, Ive had three yotas so far...but this is incredibly loud now, really turning heads...haha

MY question to you: would a failing damper not smooth out the pulse of the injectors, creating the super loud ticking?...
Or...another issue causing this, maybe a flow restriction in the return line? I will test this next
thanks in advance...all opinions welcome

PS : rebuilt top end, auto trans and nearly everything else on this 90 extracab with the search function on this site...THANKS

The fuel damper takes the pulses out of the fuel system from the fuel pump .

If your injectors are pulsing you have something else going on.

Well, I doubt loud ticking could be traced back to the Fuel Pulsation Damper. The tick from the injector is the pintle moving, and I can't imagine the noise would change much with the liquid pressure.

Since you brought it up, you didn't by any chance "tighten" the screw in the FPD? It's purpose is just yes/no for fuel pressure (it pushes out slightly with pressure). If you screw it in tight, it pulls the diaphragm all the way back and eliminates any damping.

Did you put your stethoscope on the injectors? Not easy to do on the passenger side, but you ought to at least confirm that the ticking is coming from them.

Thanks for quick reply...
Didn't mess with the damper, only removed it to get fuel rail off..
isolated the sound with a screwdriver and a hose, you can also feel it ticking away with your finger...s
Sound is present throughout the fuel rail and most pronounced at the damper and then the regulator..

Just a thought, would funky ignition timing be behind this?
My timing mark wanders around on the crank pulley...used to be dead solid..
Figured they are seperate issues, but maybe not...

I'm reviving this thread, did you ever get the issue resolved? I'm having the same issue now.
