Front Sway Bar Bushing (27mm)?

I did some searching on this and am a bit confused...everywhere I look it states that for my 94' I have the 24mm front sway bar bushings. So, I ordered what 4 different sites told me (24mm). As soon as I got them I tried to put them on and they were too small. I also noticed that on my stock/torn bushing it has the number 27 on it. I am assuming that means I have a 27mm front sway bar? The PO (Original owner) has NOT done any modifications to the truck so I know that the front sway bar was never upgraded.

Again, did some more research and I am finding only 3rd gens came with a 27mm sway bar? My only issue is, if I order the 27mm bushings for a 3rd gen, will the brackets I get be the same and bolt up to the body of my 94' 4runner? Also, one of my end links is snapped any links on where to get another? (Don't want disconnects either).

Do a search but most people just take the sway bar off and chuck it. It does very little for handling and actually makes the ride stiffer in the front. Every one of my Toy trucks (6 that I have had) I have removed the sway bar. That bar also makes it a pain in the @ss to change the CV shafts.

Have you tried to take the brackets off the frame yet? You will brake at least 1 bolt.
Sorry I didn't answer your question but something to think about.

Well one of the end links was snapped so it is removed for now. This is my DD and I go up to the mountains a lot to snowboard, this means a decent amount of highway miles for me. I have been reading thoroughly about sway bar vs. no sway bar and come to mixed conclusions. I do still have the rear though...

As for snapping bolts I soaked all bolts with Thrust for a couple days before I tackled this. So no issues there...I am also getting a weird clunk every time I brake now though. Didn't get that before when my sway bar was on.

You may have worn out lower arm bushings or something causing the clunk. The sway bar was just masking the problem maybe. It is a personal preference but I like as little crap hanging of my truck as possible. Makes it easier to service and less stuff to brake. The suspension in these trucks is stiff enough that the sway bar does very little. Can you tell the difference now that you have it off?

I have not driven up to the mountain yet or anywhere where I would go past 45mph. I took it off this past weekend, thankfully for me (and my car modding habits ) I take public transportation to and from work.

I just had a recent scare last trip home from the mountains. Myself and my boyfriend got stuck in a white squall. We saw the car in front of us all of a sudden spin like a top and smack into the side rail, and then into an 18 wheeler. Just didn't want to see the same happen to me because I decided to keep my front sway bar off. I will keep it off for now and see how she rides. Possibly invest in the prothane rear sway bar bushings.

How would I go about testing the lower control arm bushing btw? Thanks for the info!

I like my sway bar connected on the highway, I disconnect it off-road though. As for the bushings, that's weird they are too small I got some new bushings for mine here: http://www.frontrangeoffroadfab.com/nfoscomm/catalog/ Even though I didn't really need them I put them on, they came with the sway bar discos I bought.

Ya everyone lists them as 24mm...they were small.

I'd consider keeping the sway bar. You'll appreicate it when you're coming down a turn and all your snowboarding stuff doesn't go crashing into your side window.

...that's what I have a roof rack system for but thanks for he concern. Like I said I read the pro's vs. con's. I would like to keep it but having an issue finding the correct pieces.

I am at work now so I can wait I am telling you though 24mm is too small (at least in my case).

Ok, mine is .945" measured right next to the bushing. That's 24.003mm.

EDIT: I have a 4x4 pickup and it appears the 4runners use a different (thicker) bar.

I guess some sway bars are bigger. I'd just stay with those OEM bushings and bracket, they look ok.

That's the "ok" bushing. The other one pretty much disintegrated as soon as I unbolted it. Also, my issue is my end link is snapped.

Ok, after looking at carpart.com data base I realize I made a mistake, the 4runners must have a different bar than the 4x4 pickups. I have a 4x4 pickup and so the measurement I gave you was for that. It appears the 93, 94, and 95 4runners use the same bar. So make sure the bushings you get are for a 93-95 4runner.

That is my big issue, everywhere I check it states that 90-95 are 24mm. And 96+ are 27mm

I guess just try the 27mm bushings. Can't you reuse the old bushing brackets?
