Front to Rear 4cyl Diff

I'm going to 4.88's in my 89 22re and I found a front axle from a 84 that is from a 4cyl obviously. My question is, will it bolt in to my rear housing without any modification? As long as they are 4cyl diffs, front and rear diffs are the same correct? Thanks for your help.

Your correct, but I'm just using the 3rd member from the 84 front axle to put in my 89 rear axle.
