I have removed the cable. I picked up a 4 runner cable today from the junkyard. This cable is about 10" shorter than the original cable. The ends were right, and the outer cable ends were right. It was just to short.

I need a cable for 87 xtra cab 4x4. The one end that goes into the handle is the barrel style. The end under the cab is an eye. I cant seem to find a cable to save my life. I have looked and looked and looked. The cable online that a few websites suggest has a barrel on both ends. I am really confused. I dont want to pay toyota 95 dollars for a cable either. Can someone help me out here?

I go to Toyota First .

Also It never hurts for me to Have a extra pin and wheel I either drop it never to be seen again or it is not useable .

I never had good luck trying a used cable .

Perhaps post here in the wanted section or check in vehicles being parted out.

If the cable you have is to short just add a 10" piece to the one you have making sure of the length you do need.

***If the back end on your original cable is still good a few cables clamps making sure it can`t hang up you should be good to go.

Unless you get lucky, I think you will be looking for a long time. That cable must be specific to that year/body type.

I'd go the toyota route if you are short on time.
