Flashing O/D light and non-working speedo. Related??
I just bought a '95 4Runner with 119K on it. The speedo didnt work on the test drive, but everything else runs and shifts fine. Yesterday the o/d off light began flashing. Is there a link between the non-working speedo and the flashing light? I had planned to flush the tranny since I didnt have any service records from the PO concerning it. What else should I be looking for? This is my first automatic Toyota.
Thanks for the help.

yes it is related. The flashing lite is a trans code from your non working speedo. It will give you a speed sensor code from either a broken speedo cable, bad speedo head, ect

Thanks for the reply. I kinda figured thats what it was.
Would that also be the reason the cruise control doesnt work? I assume theyre all tied together somehow.
If it gets above 10 degrees here this weekend I will tear out the cable to get a look.
Thanks again. Hodag
