Fitting 33x10.50 boggers on stock or close suspension.
So this isn't really your average can i fit this tire thread. i'm no newbie when it comes to lifts/tires etc. i'm about to order wheels and tires for my newly aquired 4runner and i want to put either 33x10.5 or the 35x10.5 boggers on there with little to no lift. i will probably solid axle the truck later on but for now i want to see how fun it'll be low to the ground.
so i took some measurements today and some things don't add up. i see people talking about rubbing with 32's or so but it seems like mine would clear the 33's and possibly the 35's fine. im fine with adding bj spacers or something like that for now and the rear needs a couple inches of lift so it should be fine clearing either.
does everyone else have this much clearance with the stockish 27.5in. tall tires?
it is almost 35in. to the middle of the front fenders.
from just doing some measuring, the 33, if a true 33 should be 2.75in. larger all around. the 35 would be 3.75 and pushing it but am i just not seeing what the problem would be with the 33's? they would be about an inch wider than the current tires.
and here's a picture showing the angle of the lca and uca, doesn't look altered to me.

That does look like a lot of clearance. I would not be surprised if your torsion bars are tightened all the way (would lift it 1.5" or so).
You can check the factory clearance values. Its in the FSM. I do not recall off the top of my head the correct value, but you measure to the middle of the lower control arm adjusting bolt and compare that measurement to the middle of the axle (from the ground for both).

i didn't bother to look. i'll do that later. i'm definitely ok with cutting some while still making it look right. the pinch welds will have to be beat down.

From what I've read the ifs trucks can fit a slightly bigger tire in the front than the solid axle without a lift. I went ahead and orders ball joint spacers and a little longer shackle for the back just in case. I'll be able to make them work.

Will do, it won't be until the 22nd when I get my wheels but I'll put them on then. It's a manual tranny, if I can make these boggers fit then any other mud terrain should fit.

Crank the torsion bars a bit.
Remove the front mud flaps.
Trim the inner fender (plastic).
Bash in the inner pinch seam.
I'm currently running 33x12.5R15 on 10" wide rims with 3.75" backspacing.
So my setup is much wider. It only required light beating of the pinch weld.
With 33x10.5, you shouldn't have a problem fitting them.
