Experts weigh in! Brainstorming ways to beef up IFS tie rods

So, looking for opinions on what people think of some brainstorming i am doing in an effort to beef up my IFS. i keep making my steering sloppy from wheeling and keep trashing things.

First, a SAS or long travel isn't in my budget right now. i know that is the superior system, but i have to work within my budget.

knowing the limitations IFS has, i was looking for ways to beef up the IFS without breaking the bank. this is also my DD.

Stats:
1995 4runner 22RE
1.5" BJ spacers
33 x 12.50 tires
no lockers, 4.56 gears

my plan is similar to this guy's setup except i will not be using heim since the truck is my DD: http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthrea...highlight=heim

i like what he did but wanted to use FJ80 tie rod ends.

here's what i am thinking.

1. retaper my centerlink and knuckle with an FJ80 taper: http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index...ds-130324.html

2. buy some 1.25" x .250" OD
http://www.wfoconcepts.com/pr/-1-25-...3383/3871/3853

3. cut and tap new rods
http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index...p-m23-1-5.html

4. brace the idler arm with NWOR brace; add brass sleeves

knowing that the pitman would hit the thicker (and straight) tie rod ends this is where i need some feedback as i see 2 choices.

choice A: use washers or misalignment spacers (i don't know much about these). not sure if this would work with the FJ80 TRE's.

choice B: borrow a play from the SAS playbook.
move the steering box and idler arm forward like when you do a SAS using marling steering box mounts
http://www.marlincrawler.com/steerin...-box-mount-kit

i know this is a lot of work for IFS but i don't mind a project and have some experience with fab work. i did some quick math and the price comes out to around $400 with tax (but in the end i would also have some new tools).

is this just wishful thinking? or is this too much trouble to try to beef up the IFS on (comparatively) low budget?

It sounds pretty solid to me. Check out the heim joints. You may find something that will work without having to retap stuff. They are cheaper than you would think.

Unless you really need a bigger bolt going through for your connections. Have you been snapping the bolts off of your tie rods?

Check out places like Kartech for prices. Im interested to see how it comes out! I want to reinforce my steering also at some point but I have had no problems yet...
