Exhaust Valve Adjustment 94 V6 AT 4x4
Need to find out how much effort needed to do valve adjustment on my 3.0 AT 4x4 4Runner 150k miles (head gasket done at 85k). I believe the exhaust valves are tightening and need help. I think these have shims and I have not worked on a valve using shims. Is there any difference, tools or technique needed? If I have it done elsewhere, how much can I expect as a fair cost? Thanks.

well depeding on how experinced u are is how hard and time it will take, it takes all the regular tools to check the gap. but to get the shims out is a little fun, they call for special tools but i just loosened the cam holders and used screw drivers to get mine out, and then they just slip right in and into place with easy. now if any need replaceing casue they are wrong gap its about 10 each from dealer and u might find a machine shop close that has them and would sell them to you cheaper. u need to know what size is in there and then decide what size u need compaired to what u have. and for that u can use a micrometer. and here is the format for doing the valve adjustment...
