Exaust help

Hey, I have a 94 pickup 22re. and im looking for a new exaust set up. Im wondering if its ok to put a Flowmaster 40 series muffler 2.25 and a high flow cat on a stock exaust manifold. and if the high flow cat is a necessity.

You have a stock header? Neato, must have been a dealer option
And a 94 Taco eh? Thought Taco's started in 95.5.

Stock exhaust manifold you mean?

But to answer your question, yes, that's what I'm running on my 22RE now (minus the hi-flow cat).

yeah, tons of people run 2.25" and flowmaster 40s.

and its not a Tacoma, its just "truck" or "pick-up"...Tacomas were '95.5+

Depending on the 'source' of the information, Tacoma's were introduced in late 94 as a 95, in parallel with the 'normal' pickups. The Tacoma's have little in common with the regular Toyota pickups though....

.... what engine is in the 94, nick94toyota? Not exactly a show-stopper question but it may make a difference. I wouldn't want too small of a muffler behind a 22re or 2rz, and maybe there's some common ground between a 3vze and 3rz... and 5vze is another topic all together.

Best sounding muffler I've found for a 22RE. I've run cheapo "turbo" mufflers, cherry bomb turbos, glasspacks, etc. Pretty deep, throaty sound for a 4cyl. Most def. needs a tailpipe, don't dump it. No tail pipe makes it sound like an old wet fart that doesn't end.

So I see.
When I replied it still said "Tacoma" in the original post so I guess we missed each other by minutes.

Of course! Sleeves/adapters and clamps.

stock pipe is about 1 3/4 - 1 7/8. not easy to go from small pipe to bigger pipe without welding something.

I dont have any experience with a hi-flow cat (except when I was 16 and punched one out on my old 90 4Runner....bad idea, but sounded awesome and shot flames at 5500 RPM )

To keep the cost down, if your stock cat is good, keep it.

thats tight. so it wont be a chinsy set up if i just use adapters and clamps? and do i just wana get a 2.25 tailpipe to stick on there and thats it? seems too easy.
