eratic idle when a/c on

On my 22RE whenever i've got the a/c on while holding the brake the idle will jump between 900 and 1500 up and down like a sticking idle valve. It only does it when the compressor is engaged. The previous owner assumed it was a short in the harness somewhere and i through it was a bad engine ground. The ground from battery to engine (below compressor) was loose. It was about to fall off. I cleaned it all up good and re-attatched it nice and tight. It did good for about 5 miles but once i pulled back into the driveway it started doing it again so Im curious if anyone else has seen this before. Also idk if this will help or is related but my cold start idle is about 2200. It seems a bit high to me. It will last about 2 minutes of driving then it'll drop to about 1500. Im curious if maybe i've got an idle valve problem.

I bet the idle up valve for the A/C is pushing up your idle and when you press the brake it kicks in the fuel cut since the idle is too high.
What is your idle when the A/C isn't on? If it's 1500 that's even a bit high as well.

After the engine warms up it's around 1000. When the compressor kicks on idk what the idle is because it jumps from 900-1500 with like 1-2 second durations between jumps. If you've ever owned an older honda you know what i mean lol theyre notorious for carbon buildup in the IAC causing it to jump up and down. That's what this does but it only does it when i press the brake. I've pushed the brake switch itself eliminating vacuum. It's purely electrical.

If it only does it with the brake on, Toyotas have a fuel cut if the idle is too high and the brakes are applied. If it doesn't do it with the brake off, then it's not the IAC.

There is an adjustable Idle up valve for the A/C, where it is off hand I am not sure, I believe it's somewhere on the top of the valve cover. You should be able to adjust that down.

What is the idle with the brake off and A/C on?

What about the 4 cyl. 2006 Tacoma? Rough idle on start-up.

Not related to this thread, and I won't answer as not to confuse the original poster.
