Question Engine timing problems

Hello , so this is what I have just dropped in a re manufactured 3.0l in my 94
Runner and from the get go could not get the timing right. So I towed it
This shop called the toy shop that only works on Hondas and toyotas told the
To fix the timing, they had it for three days took the timing belt off and re did
Everything. Came back and they said they could not get the timing to Toyota spec's but they have it running, the problem is it's advanced at 30 degrees?
They say it runs fine but it will not pass smog. Any suggestions on what the problem is please help 😕

When you say re-manufactured engine, was it bought that way or did you re-build it?

That's the first placed I would have called. Now someone else has worked on it and with no better results. I hope your warranty isn't void. What scares me is this outfit had to call a Toyota work shop to try and fix it. One simple thing it could be, is dizzy is off a tooth. and it could be something else. I would call the re builder ASAP.

I've talked to numerous time , the problem is he is a 100miles away from me or I would just bring it him to fix but if it nothing with the motor he will charge me, what about
TPS is out, would that couse the computer board to think it not at the right timing

Well what happen first is when I was ready to start the motor for the first time it jumped three teeth, because Toyota 1 forgot to tighten the tensioner, they put the motor together for me I paid them extra for that , so I received the motor ready for me to put all the brackets ,motor mounts pulleys starter A /C pump ext..... So it started with them not doing there job right the first time

Not necessarily, but if the TPS is inop I would think your check engine light is on and that would fail you on smog immediately. If you can't work the issue with the timing yourself then get it to a legit Toyota repair shop. I'm sorry I cannot be of more help. 100 miles isn't that far.

A dizzy is the gear at the bottom of the distributor that engages the cam shaft sprocket/gear.

I have this same issue . I rebuilt the heads and now it won't run unless it is advanced 30 degrees . And still doesn't run correctly . Feels very sluggish like a misfire . Hopefully someone has some good info on this

I haven't had a chance to work on it the last couple of days , but I will look at it this weekend, I will check my TPS to see if it's out,if so I will recalibrate it and then try to time
It again, I hope that's my problem , but I will always listen for other suggestions

Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak , that will make it run like crap also
