Engine cranks, not starting
My friends 93 3.0 v6 Toyota truck 4x4 cranks but does not start. Jumped the fuel pump at the diagnostic hookup and the pump comes on. Tried to start with it jumped and nothing. Hooked up a spark plug and it has spark, but it looks orange and week, not blue at all. Not getting and codes out of the computer. I'm thinking maybe the crank or cam sensor went out.. Any help??? Also when I try to pull the codes, the cel flashes very fast. Maybe three times a second. The book says once every 3 seconds is normal?

Still can not figure out why the truck doesn't start. Getting fuel pressure, spark, and injector pulse. The knock sensor wires are broken, so its not hooked up. Could this cause the truck not to start? What else should I check? Thanks..

I had the same problem with my 1990 3.0. But that happened in the middle of nowhere on a road trip up into the northern part of Canada haha. Got it towed then tried plugs, battery, an ecm out of another truck, fuel pump basically everything. Nobody could figure it out. So another 8 hour tow back home then after 2 weeks of work at an auto electric place they finally found the problem. There was a short somewhere just before the distributor. Symptoms happened after a bump in the road. About 1500$ later it was fixed so try and track it down that may be your issue. Truck kinda saved my life though later on that night might appendix ruptured. Thank god I was only an hour from the nearest hospital.

Thanks for the response! I will check the wires by the distributor. Tried to spray starter fluid into the intake and she didn't even try to start. Hooked up a plug to one of the plug wires and it has spark.. Injectors are working.. Weird thing is that it started up when we first bought it. Had a rattle in the exhaust, so we opened up the cat. Also changed the battery. Then it didn't want to sart after that. not even getting a pop when it turns over....... Knock sensor? Ground? What else can I try??

Since I was hospitalized after the whole ordeal I didn't get a full understanding of everything they went through. Just have a good look around in that area, it litterally them 2 weeks with 2 guys working on it. So it couldn't have been that obvious but it would crank all day and basically sounded like it would start, but just wouldn't.
If you haven't tried this, probably have, clean your batt connections. I was having troubles with my old turbo diesel jetta recently and just cut my old connector on and crimped a new one on and its worked fine since. Dang electrical...

I'm running out of things to check! Felt for compression at the #1 spark plug and made sure that the crank was matched to tdc. Looked at the distributor and it was pointing at #1. Took out the #1 plug and cranked it over. It has spark!. Sprayed starting fluid in it and not even a pop. Help!!!

I've a problem with my 95 3.0 not starting at all either. Keeps blowing EFI fuse. Checked harness to O2 sensor and couldn't see any problems there. Dealer said it could be the circuit opening relay or the EFI main relay. Read on another thread that it could also be the wire from the + on the battery to the fuse panel on the fender. So far no luck. Going to buy new relays today.
