Engine Coolant Temp Sensor Plug Broke!

[IMG][/IMG]

Throwing code 22 as a result. Can I get a new one to wire in? What do others do? The remaining wire is looking weak as well. Thoughts?

Flip the connector over so your looking at the plug where the wires are not connected and with a small and I mean small screwdriver or even a paper clip you can stick it in the connector on the flat side of the terminal and depress the locking tab and pull the broken wire free from the other side. Then you can solder the wires back together or bend the terminal open and recrimp the wire. The terminal is like the picture you have to depress the tab so it release

Those are serviceable.

Just gently remove the terminal that the wire broke free of(1 of 2 inside the green connector there). Then you can re-attach the wire to it, if your careful not to break it in the process. It may also require splicing in a short piece of wire to lengthen the existing wire for a better fit and/or to replace a weak/damaged section of it. No biggie, just use some type of pointed picking tool/device to push the terminal out of the connector(front to back). Reconnect the wire to it. And if you don't mess it up it just plugs right back in securing itself in the connector with the wire now reconnected to it(just like it was).

EDIT: 854x4 beat me to it.

I used this thread when I changed all my injector connectors on another engine. Basically the same procedure. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f128...s-3vze-218912/

I also changed that exact same connector...just put an entire new one on since the locking clip broke also. Got it from this place, but sure you can find it at other places or the dealer. If you scroll down you'll see the green coolant temp connector. You have to use iexplorer to purchase though....the site got issues with firefox and other browsers. http://store.driftmotion.com/static/...dterminals.php

All great responses, fellas. Gonna go with Grego92's idea, as my clip is/was broken as well. Gonna have to see if I can find the same for my AC VSV connector, too. Thanks for the ideas.

OK. Foot in my mouth possibly?

I took another look at the link and worked it down to the main website and found my way back to the terminals page

However, this website doesn't have a very sophisticated way of matching the part. Can you guys confirm if this is the right connector for the ECT sensor on a 1991 3vze? ( from this website http://store.driftmotion.com/static/...mpconn2pin.php )

I'm pretty sure that's it. Just pop your existing off and match the look of the plug and terminals. That's what I did, so what you see is what you get in the picture.

Thanks for the reply Grego, I should have mentioned my car didn't come with one. The wires were just kind of there. lol

So, if anyone can confirm with there own, I would be most grateful.

Yes, it was the right connector. Make sure you get the pins with the small seals. (if you need pins)

For future users just do what Gevo did....go to the main site (driftmotion.com) and then find your way there. On this site they have a "Connector Housing and Terminals" category.

http://www.driftmotion.com/Coolant-T...n-p/dm1573.htm

good site if you ever want to swap in a 1jz!! they even sell the marlin crawler shift socket and bushing...hahahah..but I bet they don't carrry the one for the 4wd shifter...lol
