Ok so a couple days ago I switched my rear view mirror for a 4Runner's mirror. Everything works good but today I noticed that my stereo wasn't turning off after I shut off the engine and took the key out. I took the stereo out and started making sure everything was still conected right just in case. Well the red wire which is the the power touches metal, sparked and now everything works. Weird but it fixed the problem. oh I also went through a little bit of mud and water with my son this morning so maybe that has something to do with it.

My questions are what could it have been, could it have been the mirror exchange, the water from mudding and do i need to worry about an electrical issue?

When you shorted the red wire the fuse for that did not open??

Do you have the radio plugged into the stock harness??

Possible the wire for the presets some how touched the switched power circuit keeping the radio powered up

It would seem you have an electrical issue that may cause a problem if you don`t find it.

Most electrical issues I see is where the stereo or trailer wiring harness is not wired in correctly. Getting an arc and not blowing the fuse makes me think your stereo is not wired in correctly.

Sorry its not hooked up to a harness. when I hooked up the dome light the dome fuse blew but not the radio. I went through and made sure that all the power wires were right. I'm thinking it had something to do with the remote wire. The reason is because my amp would stay on also, but when I unhooked the remote wire to my amp the amp would lose power. I didnt get to xheck the remote in the radio since the red struck metal and kinda fixed it. Ima have my local car stereo store look at because I dnt want my truck to burn down
