EGR temp sensor

Motor is a 1994 22re, has sensor but no charcoal can so it's the fed system not Cali.

The sensor is on the back of the intake, and easy to get to the plugs.

What is cold reading on a known working one? It's not supposed to be open circuit right?

The FSM doesn't go lower than 50 celcius, I can't heat up oil in my kitchen to do the tests. Nor in the salvage yard.

Stupid "Pavement ends" wash-board road out of no where, managed to shake a vac line loose, and I think took my sensor with it.

The resistance increases with decreasing temperature http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...43egrgaste.pdf, but I'm sure it's not "open circuit." It could be as high as 100k ohms, though, so be sure you're using your meter correctly.

Incidentally, the manual shows a charcoal EVAP canister for both California and Federal. Beyond that, I can't help you.

Thanks for the reply,

I'll have to look again for the charcoal can, but i don't remeber seeing it. Could of just been tunnel vision.

Resistance decreases with temp increase. *check*
Resistance:
69−89 k at 50°C (122°F)
11−15 k at 100°C (212°F)
2−4 k at 150°C (302°F)

My meter is not an auto ranging type, so I over looked trying in the Mohm range. I closed the hood and walked away after the diode/conductivity test said none and the battery low warning came on, I assumed it was correctly registering an open since the display hadn't started to dim yet.

....Dig out flash light...Put on coat...

Outside temp around 13f, resistance around 1.2MOhm

I have to clean that out I guess. I'll probably try a heat gun on the sensor too.
