Ecu the same in 22re and 22r?????

Ecu the same in 22re and 22r?????

Question i have a 86 22re and have been having trouble starting when it hot changed a bunch of sensor and still nothing but i had the kick pannel off today and notice the ecu says 22r and was wondering if that is right or not i would think it would say 22re so if ne one knows weather they have the same ecu and could write me back it would b great

A 22R is not fuel injected so the computers are not the same. on a 22R carbed engine the only thing the computer is doing is operating the emissions sensors. on a 22RE the computer is operating the fuel injection the emissions systems and other sensors, these computers are not interchangeable.

that what i thought do u know if the ecu should say 22re and not 22r???

IN my 81, there is no computer. Hell, i dont even have a dash. ignition, fuse box and like 2 relays. 1 for head lights and tail lights, and... duno what the other one does.

Im not sure what it would say on the computer. as for you hot start problem, have you checked the idle air control valve and the thermo time switch ?, either one of those can cause a starting problem.

the 22re ECU will say 22r on it the 22r has a small control box that is half the size of the 22re ecu
