Drivers side floorboard/column leak in 88 4wd pickup
It appears that there is a leak somewhere on the drivers side floor possibly around the steering column of my 88 pickup,4wd 22RE.I have heard this is a typical problem for these trucks.I would like to know if anyone knows anything about this and how to fix it.

Pop the hood locate the steering shaft inspect the rubber at the firewall. best place to disconnect is under the dash, loosen both sides of the U joint slide it forward off the steering wheel section then backward off other half of the shaft, push on new rubber and replace the u joint.
Other leak suspects are in the wiper valance. This is behind the firewall so if it rusts out it will run down the inside of the firewall to the floor. Also the window area, or body mount. Not sure if there is drain plug in the forward area.

is it leaking water or something else? Ive heard clutch master cylinders are bad for leaking. And if it is leaking water go out to your truck right after a good rain and take a flashlight and get under that dash and track it down, thats the best way to do it.
