Drive shaft differences
My buddys brother is looking for a rear drive shaft for his 90 short wheel base 4x4. He Sent me a message and said his broke right before the joint but just the tube is 29 3/4 inches. I've got one here its either from an 88 or a 91 short wheelbase but its alot longer than 29 inches. Was there a difference between the older short wheelbases and newer?

I dont think he welds or anything. So i imagine he just wants a bolt in driveshaft. The driveshaft i have hear is probably around 47"s. I cant remeber if it was out of an 88 or 91. What do you mean by stacked cases? His truck is a stock 90's pickup, so should his driveshaft be longer than what he measured?

Stacked cases refers to have doubled them up for more gears when off roading. Yes his measurement is more like the lengh of the front drive shaft not the rear. If it is the rear he is needing than is should be around that 47". Your shaft should fit his just fine.

Buddy was out today with his father to look at a box i have. They said my driveshaft is way longer and cant figure out what up with his being so short. He also said it was bolted up so that the slip joint was at the rearend not the tcase.

It makes no sense to me lol.He said its one peice and just the tube was 29 3/4 inches so add a few more inches for the slip joint still not very long. They said mine is huge compared to his and its from a short wheel base truck. I'm gonna stop in when i'm in town and look at it myself i cant figure it out. Mayby the frames been shortened or something but they said my box is the right length for it.

He must have a 2 peice design, and is measuring the part from the axle to the carrier bearing. Usually these designes were for extracab trucks only. I am not sure how he made it fit his truck, but the measurements your telling us don't add up any other way.
If he as a 2 peice design, he can fit a reagular drive shaft, he just needs to measure the entire lengh from the transfer case to the pinion shaft.
TAKE A PICTURE= we can help you further.
