I rebuilt the motor in the yota in late spring. It ran fine, but had an issue with the idle being a little rough after it warms up. I adjusted the idle speed and it smoothed it out a touch that it didnt feel like it would die out on me. After that it didnt bother me much. For the last 2 days the idle has been a bit rougher, back to feeling like the motor may die. I havent gone throguh the normal steps of checking vacuum leaks and such. My question is about the TPS. I repalced and adjsuted it fine before i blew the original motor. I didnt mess with the TPS after i installed it on the new motor. Should i go about and recheck the sensor? Does it require periodic maintenace?

Typically, no. A new one should go quite a long time before you may need to adjust it to "refresh" where the ECU reads the idle position. That's just from build up or wear.

It wouldn't hurt to recheck the TPS. But, you might also check the airflow meter and coolant temp sensor.

When my idle gets rough, I clean the throttle body. Typically every few thousand miles.

I kicked up the idle a touch and it smoothed it out. The screw that controls the idle richness seems like it maybe moving with vibration. I may have to add some to hold the screw in place.

the screw that controls the fuel mix at idle is in the air-flow meter, so which screw did you adjust?
