Does 22r 1986 pickup have check engine light.
Hello! This is a simple question, but I haven't got my answer from googling. Actually I have got contradicting info. I read some places online where someone says there is no ECU, so there is no check engine light. Then I read somewhere else that there should be a check engine light. Also I looked under my passenger side kick panel and there is a box with plugs going into it and it reads 'emissions control' I assume this is my ECU. Shouldn't I have a check engine light? If not, is there a way to retrieve codes?
Also I did take out my dash and look, It's not just a burnt out bulb.

It was a 91 2WD (the 2WDs were still available with a carb up until about 93 or so IIRC), and it had an OBDI diagnostics port under the hood and everything. I think about all it could deal with was the O2 sensor, and the EGR temp sensor, and little else.
As for an 86, though I highly doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if the 89-up trucks had it though.
