"To do" list while engine is out

I finally got around to pulling my engine and tranny out. Found a 2nd 22re that runs and am redoing the timing, alternator, waterpump and various gaskets.
While I have the engine bay open and free, Im looking for things to do to it since I have the space and time. I am already planing on relocating the battery, preparing for a snorkle kit and replacing motor mounts. Is there anything else that I should be looking to do before I put the motor back in? The truck is going to be used as a winter/ offroad truck generally.

what about the egr and PAIR system delete and using the block off plate from LCE to deal with the water passage behind the head.

if your in cali I wouldn't do the egr delete or anything like that though were you would need the emissions stuff.

here is a link to the LCE block off plates: http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...ss=1447&Page=1

any questions on removing that stuff, you might wanna ask iamsuperbleeder, as I believe he deleted everything. not 100%sure though. I know he did the PAIR system and that egr crossover though. not sure on oll of the coolant pipes.

I am gonna eventually do mine as well. Since mine is carbed it's a little different. But the carb trucks can get cleaned out quite a bit, especially when running a weber like I am.

Are there any performance results from this? And since im deleting EGR and PAIR elements, wouldnt that cause a CEL and then in turn kill efficiency on the motor causing it to run really rich?
Im probably really off since im really into the OBDII scene, and been working on late model toyotas, acuras ,chevys and jeeps.. Thats just what would/could happen on the motors I usually toy with.

not sure on the egr thing as I believe some of the 22re's I believe have a sensor and some do not. Might want to search on here with that one as it has been done many times on here. as for the pair system, nothing should be monitoring that at all.

Yep, I found a few threads on it. Havnt come across a DIY yet. Maybe if I do it sucessfully Ill write one up and put it up here, kinda like a new members way of participating.
Im kinda torn on it though now. Ive seen some people say the motor performs better, same and worse.

Definitely your rear seal. Sucks having the rear seal go. Huge labour for such cheap simple, tiny part.

Sorry to bump my thread, but upon further inspection of the motor I picked up i found its been rebuilt. New seals, new timing, new valvetrain. Havnt looked at the pistons but it has pefect compression! A damn steal for the price I paid for it. Going ahead and attacking the EGR/PAIR system today. thanks for your advice guys!
