Do I have a ADD diff? Which diff fluid do i use?

Hey guys, getting ready to change out all my fluids on a 92 manual 3VZE pickup.

Reading the FSM is says to use Toyota Gear Oil Super if I have a diff with ADD? If I don't have and ADD, I can use regular GL-5 gear oil.

Is there an easy way to know if I have an ADD diff? And if I do have an ADD do I use the special toyota gear oil in both the front and back diffs - or just the front?

Thanks very much if anyone can shed some light on this for me.
Steve

You can use regular 80w90 or similar with either. To answer your question though, do you have manual hubs? In other words is there a knob in the center of you wheel to get into 4 wheel drive?

Hey thanks for the quick response!
I just have the stock auto-hubs - no knob to turn on the front wheels

No problem! Auto hubs are the ADD system (Automatic Disengage Differential)

You dont have Auto-Hubs. You have ADD. Auto Hubs were only available on Toyota p/us from '84-'88 and 4runners '84-'89. To know if you diff is ADD or not, look at the front of the front diff. If it has a little actuator thing on it, then its ADD.
