Diff Armor Large vs. Small

So basicly from what I see ( and it may be me being cheap) is that the small guard is perfectly fine cuss all youz really need ti oritect is the ring gear. Whats the purpose if the larger one. Thanks!

I think he's talking about the formed plate that bolts to the bottom of the diffs.

I've seen some huge ones on 10 and 14 bolt equipped buggies but those guys run some crazy trails. For our light weight rigs a thinner but well built plate should do fine. I've drug both my front and rear a time or two with no armor and no damage.

edit: didn't type fast enough.

Honestly man , it is the best thing I ever did to the truck ..
alot easier to work on , lots more power ,better gas mileage. Just to name a few things .

You get better mileage out of that V8? I mean I can understand the power gains, am a little confused about the ease of working on it (more engine=less space), but better mileage than the V6? I might be confused as to the power to weight ratio with each engine.

yes better gas Mileage , believe it or not..

roughly 16-19
the v6 I was getting 14-16 on a good day. with my 4:10 and 33

This V8 also weighs less than the v6 (all aluminum heads and block.)

Lots more room in the engine compartment now and lots less hoses and crap.

sorry OP ...

Sorry OP..

That is impressive. So you feel that all the work and that crazy wiring was worth it. That rocks man that really really rocks!

Im talking about the trail gear armor.... not sure exactly what your talking about but I get the jest of it... no need huge buly . smaller one will add good protection? I got 3 dents on my 2 houseing.. 1 front 2 rear... all in the spot of the ring gear. So im thinking the mohawk lokin guy that just covers the ring will be good... hate to be wrong thoe and redo the whole thing.
