Darn Alt belt

Was driving home and noticed the brake and battery light came on, 1st thought the alt went out but the heat gauge was at 3/4 way so i knew it was the belt. so i pulled over and let it cool for a bit and then hobbled on my way and the gauge pegged out so i stopped at a friends house and added water to get it home. then next day I did a compresion check to be sure the head gasket was ok and each cylinder was at 165# (did a check 4 years ago and each cyl was at 168# back then), so i flushed the radiator and filled with new coolant / replaced the belt and all is well .... 198,6xx miles and going
