I took apart my cv and took out the 6 ball bearings and i cant seem to get them back in the cv. can any one help with directions. Thanks for your time.

Ummmm - WTF did you do that?

Step one - Slide the boots back over so it looks normal
Step two - Go to Autozone, Advance, whatever and buy a remanned CV
Step three - Turn in your busted one for the core credit
Step four - let peole who do it everyday rebuild CV's

You'll have $70 in the whole deal and you know the CV was cleaned up well, there's the right amount of grease, and the boots are clamped properly.

Well, I don't know how you got them out, so hopefully you didn't damage the bearings.....seeing as how you can't get them back in.

Actually, rebuilding a CV is not that big a deal if you have the right tools and know mostly what you're doing. I'd have rebuild my Toyota CV's eons ago if I'd known then what I know now....partly just so I can say I have Toyota axles! Now, I have the O'Reilly special. They're holding up just fine, though.

One more thing....

I don't know if that video goes over this (I've no audio right now), but make sure you have a decent coat of axle grease on there before you go hammering. And, use a soft hammer....brass, or maybe even a rubber dead blow.

I just use a rubber mallot and a good vise when doing a CV rebuild... though its been a long time since ive done that.

they only go one way, and it's backwards to the way most people try to do it.

I'd suggest finding someone with experience to give you some pointers.

And in the future when you go taking stuff apart pay closer attention to the way it came apart so that you will know how to go back together with it.
