cruise control need help

ok i searched and no luck but here it goes ok i have cruse control and yes its stock but when i turn it on with the button on the dash and hit the set on the wiper switch it flashes the light on the dash that tells you its on any ideas on why its doing this oh and no it don't work at all i tried everything and no luck

I had a 90 celica that did that. By the time I was going to figure out what was causing it, I totaled the car when I hit a deer at 80mph. My guess would be that maybe the vacuum that holds the throttle cable might be bad. But remember, Im GUESSING. I dont really know for sure. Might be somewhere to start. When I got my 4runner. My light stayed on but the cruise never set. I just took off the cover of that vacuum pump that holds the throttle cable and just realized that my throttle cable was unhooked. Once I get my 3.4 I'll see if that was it. Good luck

when the light flashes it is telling you thet there is something wrong in the system. more than likely its the actuator but check all mechanical parts first. and check brake fluid and brake light function as they will kill the cruise. also check speed sensors.

time for a brake light switch, i bet it fixs the cruise. or the fuse.
