Cruise control acting up
hey, guys, ive searched but everything i come across is for the 3rd gen runners...
my runner came with the factory cruise control, and its never really worked properly, engaging only when it wanted to, but as of late it wont come on at all...
ive heard that the cruise is controled by vacuum, but it doesnt make sense... my motor is usually at around 3K RPMs and should have plenty of vacuum for it to work...
one thing i did notice that the few times it did work, the e-brake light is not on... before i did my rear springs it would flicker on and off, but now it stays on all the time... dunno if the 2 are related, but i figure that id give all the info...
anyone with any knowledge of the 3VZ motor, please help... im going to be taking a 2500 mile trip in june and i would like to have my cruise working...

The cruise won't work with the e-brake light on - as you discovered.
If you download the FSM it has procedures for diagnosing the cruise control.
I think the motor actually has less vacuum at higher rpm/load, although I think the cruise might have it's own vacuum pump/resevoir.

does your truck have the cruise control computer? our expedition has one, and it doesnt work correctly, only works when it wants to. maybe you have the same problem i do? (other than the obvious circled one)

FYI, problem fixed... seems the float went bad on the brake fluid resivior... with the help of Fae_Tal's significant other, wade, and his dad, we figured it out... unplugged it and the light on my dash went away and the cruise started working again...
thanks for the help guys!
