Cranks but no start.

I was cruising down the highway doing 55-60 and all the sudden my RPMs drop to zero. Still had all my lights, engine just died. It's a 1991 v6 and i noticed it just rolled over 197000 miles when it happened. I tried cranking it on the side of the road and nothing. A friend of mine was pulling me home and I decided to try it again and to my amazement it started right up! I am kind of perplexed at this issue. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Hi
had similar prob on my v6 spark plug from pervious owner had been dropped. it was wedged between starter and engine block. only spotted when i was looking to remove and test starter. a real pig of a job to get spark plug out. managed to do it without removing starter. use to long slot head screwdrivers to slide it out. looks like the spark plug had been there for

years.

Maybe A fuel pump issue.

The way it quit, it's electrical. A fuel pump would have sputtered a lot or cut out intermittently. Then you'd have nothing. However, an electrical will just cut out completely (mostly anyway).

Sound like what I had happen, the distributor gave out on me. Check all your wiring from your battery to the coil, to distributor, maybe something is loose/damaged.

Yeah, check for spark and fuel pressure.
Your fuses OK?

Hey everyone thanks for all of the replies... and sorry for not getting back sooner. I took the EFI relay out and it was pretty clean and i made sure that it was clicked back in. Then I checked the distributor which was pretty gnarled up, scraped it off with a screwdriver and it has been running smooth since. Im saving up some money to do a tune up, cleaned the k&n filter and treated it... looking to do a paintjob soon
