buying a new dash pad would most likely be the best idea

That dash pad is in real bad shape, you might try looking for another one thats in better condition.

How about getting it re-covered, perhaps at a (competent) leather shop?

My 4Runner dash is in good shape but my RX-7s dash is all turn up like that. I've often wondered if a leather shop could re-foam and glue leather down on it.

You can always try asking Green Truck to make you one..

He does a nice job on the parts and has even done a black carbon fiber dash pad: http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=713338

with my truck, i just don't care. all my bumps and bruises (and believe me, there are a LOT) are, in a weird way, kinda a source of pride for me.

I know what you mean! In the spring, I want to repaint my truck, but I can't bring myself to fix all the dents first!
