Could use a bit of advice 3VZE motor removal

Hi techers: I am pulling the 3-slow out of my truck and need some suggestions on getting to the top tranny bolts. I am going to be setting the motor up on a stand and doing a whole topend to it so watch for the progress and pics. Those of you who have already done this be ready to offer all the advice you can as it will greatly speed this up.

Easiest way, if you have a load balancer on your engine hoist, is to just take the engine out with the tranny/reduction box/transfer case still attached. Separate it once the entire thing's out and on the ground. Then when you put it back in just assemble it all together again and put it in as one unit.

I like that idea. here are a few pics of the project. I bought the truck for 900 bucks....I know I know its against the law to steal but the kid was hurting for cash. Any way I think it will be a decently inexpensive repair job if I do most of the work myself.

You can also drop the rear cross member on the tranny which will tilt the engine backwards allowing you to reach the bolts from underneath using a really long extension and a universal joint.

You can remove the intake and heads (leave the block in the truck) if you are doing only the top end. That way you do not even have to touch the bellhousing bolts.
If you have a manual transmission inspect your rubber clutch hose (bolted to the pass. side head) it may be leaking and easier to replace it now then later.

I wussed out guys........ went the easy way and just left the moter in.

NOW the cams are a b^&%h HEEEEELP> how do you get the bolts out to remove them so you can get the heads off.

I am quite intimidated at the mess I have sitting in the shed right now. not so much motor parts as the wiring and vacuum and the million other hoses. I took photos so with luck I will eventually get it right. But first those dang bolts must GO> Once again HEEEEELP....

Thanks guys
