Cost to rebuild tranny
How much do you think it would cost to rebuild a w56? Think I can get one for $25 with no reverse. lol

Just park so you don't have to back up and you'll be fine. I had mine rebuilt a few years ago for around $600.

Since your getting it so cheap you might wanna try rebuilding it yourself and save some cash.

a mechanic quoted me 800-1200 depending on how bad the tranny is.

I can get a w-56 + transfercase for $200 so I'll keep looking. Thanks!

Just get another trans. rebuilding is around 1000-1200. Just find another used one IMHO.
