I've narrowed a leak I believe I get when running the heater down to the upper of these two hoses (by the exhaust blockoff and covered in grime.)

Do you guys know which part that is and if it's a common problem?

I can't seem to find a schematic of the cooling/heating systems

It's a plate that just bolts to the back of the head. It is a slightly common problem. They usually never give a problem unless it's rusted through. Or someone has had it off before and instead of using the proper gaskets they just silicone it and that doesn't seam to last on these plates.

Do you know the name or part number? I think it's fair to estimate that it's rust... so far I've had my brake line and spring hanger rust through

ouch! I would hate to be ridding along when either of those fail. No I don't know the part number.

Luckily I was bleeding the brakes when the line burst... and the spring hanger is just sitting comfortably inside the frame. I'll get to it eventually
