confused...
So i just finished replacing my headgaskets on my 93 runner with the 3.0. trucks idling fine and seems to be running fine, but it slowly overheats in about a 10 min window. The gasket is on correctly and not backwards so i know the cooling passage isnt blocked. The heater in the truck isnt blowing any warm air either and the coolant level isnt going down. Do i just have a vapor lock?

Sounds like you have air trapped in cooling system. Did you fill the block with coolant through the upper radiator hose? Highly recommend it.
Search on burping the cooling system.

Thermostat was fine before doing the gasket, but the truck has been sitting for 6 months. I did not fill the upper hose and block. Ill look into burping it. Just wanted to see if i was over looking something

Thanks rworegon for your tip. I was able to pour a whole jug of antifreeze through the upper hose when the radiator wasnt taking any. Been idling fine for 30 mins with no heating issue and the heaters putting out now. Just fine. Throttle is sticky as ˟˟˟˟ but i can handle that just fine. See you guys on the road soon thanks.

Welcome!
Coolant does not flow through a closed thermostat so well to fill the block. Fill the coolant overflow tank to the cold line and top off as necessary.
