compression test results...bad guage?

compression test results...bad guage?
I just tested my compression trying to find an oil leak/excessive burning. ( https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116.../#post51515362 )
On the first test, where the engine was slightly warm (sat for about an hour and a half, but was still "ouch" hot to the touch.") the results were as follows:
1 - 150
2 - 140
3 - 150
4 - 145
I tested the engine a second time with the engine fully hot, and the compression gauge broke. I replaced the valve that broke with one from a bike tire, and the results were as follows:
1 - 90
2 - 70
3 - 70
4 - didn't bother testing seeing as how the previous tests were so low.
Now, before the gauge broke, the first initial reading for cylinder one was about 180 PSI if I remember correctly. I was going to test it a second and third time to average the results and on the second test it wouldn't hold the pressure.
Do you think the second test was more accurate since the engine was warm, or do you think it was the bike tire valve that makes the readings so low?
As for the first test, can those still be accurate even though the engine wasn't hot? How are those numbers for an engine with 250k miles?

I highly doubt those low readings were at all accurate. I was talking to my dad, and he said warming up the engine shouldn't change the numbers that much. My original numbers should be good. He showed my the compression numbers for our geo metro with a bad valve that was cracked in half and the compression was 85 in the one cylinder. So with readings that low, my engine shouldn't even be running.

Tested the gauge on the geo. Same problem. All cylinders show 60 PSI. Gauge is bad.
So what about those first numbers. Are those pretty good for an engine as old and experienced as mine? 250k miles.

Okay, first. All those numbers are within TOYOTA spec for a 22r. 171 max. 141 min, with no more than 14 difference between any two cylinders.
Did you have the throttle plate propped open all the way?
