completed my 3.0 swap
so today after 3 full days of swapping motors, we started my 92 pickup and it started right away. the only complication now is the gasket for the egr, that when i started the engine i could hear a vacuum leak, but thats a 5 minute change, i also have a air bubble in my coolant, truck isnt heating great, and temperature isnt coming up very much. but other than that im running on all 6 now, and got lots more power and it takes a lot less gas! so now i have a motor with half the mileage on it, this one has 175000k and the old one had 330 000k.
oh and i havent taken apart the old engine, but im almost 100% sure that the problem was an exhaust valve, ill let u know when i find out.

Glad to see someone else with engine woes come back fighting...
Mine had broken rods, still not running yet (don't even have a replacement engine), but the fight continues.

3 days? That sounds like the route I should have taken. I ended up tearing down the old motor and rebuilding it with all new parts. Between actually deciding to do it, and waiting for money and parts she's been sitting in the garage for over a year. I guess I learned a lot in that time though. Mine should be going in the next couple of days. My last parts trip to Toyota: $81.00 for 4 valve shims. Geeze. Good job and I can't wait to hear mine fire for the first time too.

heres a couple of pics, and now the only thing left is my gasket for the egr ripped during reinstalling, so the engine is stumbling a bit right now, and there was no thermostat in the donor engine! lol, changed that, and now theres a bit of a vibration when i start the engine or step on the gas, we figure its due to teh transmission vibrating, when we jacked the tranny a bit one of the rubber transmission mounts came out, so i put it back in, but i dont think its in properly, so ill be taking care of that next, other than that truck runs great now!
and the donor truck and a bit of the process,
stripping the old motor
the donor truck when i got it,
after i was done with it
all of this in 3 days!
