cold weather issues

Hey guys my 87 pickup with a 22r just started acting up when the weather got cold, around 20 degrees, when first started the engine will idle fine then slowly drop to where a it sounds like a diesel with a lope tune haha. also while it is loping sometimes if i give it gas the idle will go up and stablize other times it will die. All of this goes away once the truck warms up. Is this just something these trucks do or does the carb need to be tuned for the colder weather?

It may just be the choke coming on in the cold weather. My buddies 87 would lope when it was started cold.

Mine does this same thing. Starts first try of the key, slows into a lope and smells really rich, then gradually idles up to high idle.

Watching for a solution.
